When you write in this genre, you need to keep coming up with new monsters, new inventions, new wow stuff and or have well developed, well loved or hated characters. This is my third Westerfeld novel and I like the subjects he writes about. BARKING SPIDERS, I should have enjoyed this. See his work at beasts, poisonous barnacles and steam spewing mechanical monsters are all things I enjoy. Visit him at or follow him on Twitter at Keith Thompsons work has appeared in books, magazines, TV, video games, and films. His other novels include the New York Times bestseller Afterworlds, the worldwide bestselling Uglies series, The Last Days, Peeps, So Yesterday, and the Midnighters trilogy.
